Knights sign with Predator

 

Reading Knights are pleased to announce the partnership with Predator Nutrition for the next two seasons. Predator Nutrition will act as the club’s sports nutrition supplier, providing sports supplements and expert advice to the club. The club will benefit from individual nutritional advice to help them with their assault on the BUAFL. Knights announce new Committee

The Reading Knights recently held their AGM and elected a new committee for the following season. There was a mixture of new and old faces on the committee, the following people were elected onto the committee this year:

Knights tame Wolves

The Reading Knights entertained the Warwick Wolves in their last regular season home game, putting in their best performance of the season to win the game by a 46-0 margin. After the defence held Warwick’s offense in the first possession the Knight’s offense got to work moving the ball with ease through the air and on the ground. After some good gains Quarterback Ally Reid connected with Tight End Phil Giddings who raced away down the touchline aided by some good blocking from Christopher Beck for a touchdown. The PAT was good and the Knights we up 7-0. On the next possession Reid found Wide Receiver Beck on a play-action pass who raced in for another touchdown, the PAT was no good taking the score to 13-0. Giddings would go on to get a further 2 receiving touchdowns, Beck also went on to gain another touchdown on a 81-yard reception to cap a 99 yard drive by the offense. Running Back James Hollobone got his reward for a hard days running by going in from a yard out to finish off another long drive by the Knight’s offense. It was a result that means the Knights have qualified for the playoffs for the third consecutive year. In addition, the win took the Knights to 6 wins for the season making it the best season ever in the Knight’s history. Game MVP’s were as followed:

Knights beat Aber

The Reading Knights made the long journey to Aberystwyth at the weekend to take on Tarannau Aberystwyth. The Knights came away with a hard fought 14-0 victory improving on an already successful season, to take them 5-1 with two regular season games left. The offense found it hard to move the ball in the first half suffering 3 and outs on many drives. However, the defence came to the offences rescue in the first half with Rich Rainford forcing the ball loose from the Quarterback from which Ollie Bristow recovered and went over for a touchdown. The two point conversion from Phil Giddings was good providing an important 8-0 start. After the touchdown it was the two defences that were on top of the game until half time. During the third quarter the Knights did what they have been doing all season, sustaining long drives without finish them off due to errors. The Knights offense finally got on the board late in the fourth quarter again driving the ball 80 yards downfield and this time they applied the finishing touch with James Hollobone going in from a yard out to make the score 14-0. The offense had another long drive late in the fourth quarter but were unable to convert a fourth and two to gain the first down. The Knights next game is at home to the 2-4 Warwick Wolves on Sunday 21st February. The Game MVP’s were as followed:

Knights Breeze past Cavaliers

 

The Reading Knights defeated the Oxford Cavaliers @ Bulmershe by a score line of 34-7 to extend their regular season record to 4-1. This is the best start to a season in the history of the Knights to date. The tone of the game was set from the Knights first possession, driving down the pitch with some good blocking by the Offensive Line. Quarterback Ally Reid then found wide receiver Christopher Beck with an accurate pass establishing an early lead. Beck then took advantage of Oxford not downing the ball on a punt returning it for 60 yards to the end zone for his second touchdown. Beck went on later get his third touchdown of the day from another Reid pass. The Knights wrapped up the game with two more scores with Oxford only managing a reply of one score. Other key plays included interceptions from James Henderson and Ollie Bristow. The final score ended 34-7 to the Knights, a result which means that Reading are knocking on the door of the playoffs for a third successive season. The Game MVP’s were as followed:

Knights Superbowl Party

 

The Reading Knights are pleased to announce that they will be hosting their Superbowl XLIV party at the Grovesnor Casino in Reading.The cost of the event will be £20 which will include a buffet and free drink upon arrival and a free bet for the casino.

 

This is your chance to see the best team from the AFC battled it out with their NFC counterpart in Superbowl XLIV in Miami, Florida which should be a great, entertaining game of football.

 

 

Casino Social

 

On Wednesday 2nd December the Reading Knights will be hosting a joint social with the Reading Uni Cheerleaders at Grosvenor Casino. It will be a James Bond themed evening so it’s Smart/Formal Dress. There are only 75 tickets for the Reading Knights. We will be selling them at training so get yours so you don’t miss out.

The tickets for the evening will be £15, £8.50 of this will go to the club to help us with travel costs and other things. Upon entry you will be able to get a free drink and a buffet will be provided for everyone.

 

There will also be free tuition tables for you to have a go at the games without losing money. All in all it should be an amazing and fun night for both of the clubs involved.

 

So get your tickets from Phil at training. If you would like to bring a guest that is fine, we only have 75 tickets for the whole team including coaches and guests.

 

Knights Second Social

 

After the great success of the first social (see photo) It's time for another. Wetherspoons challenge on Saturday 31st October at 7pm at spoons opposite Q Bar, its fancy dress so come up with something creative, then up to the union for the official drink of the Reading Knights: Snakebite and black aftershock, or if you're really hard double aftershock and coke (cola).

For all you Fassys who don't know what the Spoons challenge is it's basically a test of skill and endurance. You have to dink the saver menu which consists of:

 

It has come to my attention that the saver menu may not exist anymore. But the plan remains the same, get drunk.

Hartley Appointed Head Coach

 

After a series of interviews the Reading Knights committee came to the decision to appoint Chris Hartley as the new Head Coach of the Reading Knights. The committee feels that Chris has the ability and passion to take the Reading Knights forward.

 

Chris has an impressive resume having played and coached at the Coventry Jets the Brit Bowl winners last year. He was special teams coordinator for the Jets went they went to the Eurobowl. He also took up the Head Coach at the Coventry Jets youth team. This last year he returned to playing with the Berkshire Renegades, he also helped installed a zone blocking scheme at the Renegades.

To anyone who is interested in joining the Reading Knights, either as a player or coach...

 

Think what you got it takes to be the next Tom Brady or Ray Lewis then come and visit our stand at the University of Reading Fresher's Fayre (Sports/Clubs Day) which will be held the week beginning Monday 29th September.

 

The first trials will be held at the Pavillion, Whiteknights Campus on Sunday 4th October, 12:30 - 16:00.

 

Training will then be every Tuesday and Thursday 18:30 - 20:30, and every Sunday 13:00 - 16:00.
